Is fileUPYOURS.com FREE to use? (top)
Absolutely! There is no cost to upload your files to fileUPYOURS.com and access them from anywhere. As a free service there are a few limitations such as disk space and bandwidth but we feel they are very generous.
Advanced features may be available in the future that might require a nominal fee to those who need it, but fileUPYOURS.com will always provide a free service.
What can I upload to fileUPYOURS.com? (top)
Anything! Well, almost anything. Some file extensions are restricted because it can be used for malicious use and therefore cannot be uploaded unless compressed to a ZIP (.zip) or other compression format. Other than that you can upload any kind of document including music, photos, etc. All uploaded content must not violate the Terms of Services. Sharing of copyrighted material is strictly prohibited.
I can't access my files! What is "Bandwidth Exceeded"? (top)
Because of the extreme popularity of fileUPYOURS.com, and as a free service we can only allot so much bandwidth per user. Although we feel the provided space and bandwidth are generous, some users do tend to use it up quickly. Remember that fileUPYOURS.com is not designed for mass file distribution, but rather personal file storage and transfers. As soon as the limit is hit, files will become unavailable until the the bandwidth counter is reset.
Bandwidth counters are reset every 30 days. You can see your bandwidth usage under the "My Files" section.
No file size restrictions, why is there a limit then? (top)
There are no file size limits for upload unlike other upload services that offer as little as 1024k (1MB) per file. However, because of the extreme popularity of fileUPYOURS.com, and as a free service we can only allot so much disk space per user. This limit is currently 100MB per user, which we feel is generous. If you try to upload a file that exceeds your available space, it will be rejected.
My file's extension was denied, what gives? (top)
There are no file type restrictions however for the protection of ourselves and others there are some extensions that aren't allowed to be uploaded. These denied extensions include extensions commonly used for viruses, worms, trojans or other malicious software or scripting. If you need to upload a file with a restricted extension we suggest you compress the file first, then upload. It's recommended that you regularly scan your system and files for viruses before uploading, especially if you plan on sharing with your friends and family.
Update: Due to the massive abuse from spammers we are forced to not allow .htm or .html extensions from being uploaded. This may be something we offer in the future as a premium feature but until then we must add this restriction to protect us and others.
Do my uploaded files ever expire or get deleted? (top)
No, files don't expire. As long as you keep an active account your files will never get deleted, regardless to size or usage. However, accounts that haven't been used for over 25 days will expire and be removed. This includes all files uploaded by those users. If you do not wish to lose your files then you must let us know you are still alive and access your account! ;)
How does the Photo Gallery work? (top)
Now you can have a FREE online Photo Gallery to show-off your photos to all your friends and family. Setting it up is easy. From your 'My Files' section of your account activate the gallery. This will automatically create a new folder, 'Photo Gallery' in your files. Simply upload or move photos (.JPG, .GIF, .PNG) to that folder and they will be made available on your Photo Gallery. To remove images, simply move them out of the folder.
The gallery will automatically create thumb-nails for your photos. We suggest you size down your photos (see 'What other file options and management can I do?') so that it is faster and easier for your friends and family to view your photos. Any thumbnail can be clicked to view the photo in it's full size. (please note that this does use your monthly bandwidth)
